A General Note on ‘Motorcycle Grand Prix’

‘Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix’ is one of the most premiere championships that of road racing with the help of motorcycles. The whole championship is essentially divided into three specific classes:

•    Moto3: This class was introduced in 2012.In this class of racing, motorcycles of 250 cc four-stroke engines is driven. However, initially, the motorcycles of these races included only 125 cc double stroke engines. This race also has regulations and rules with respect to the age of the driver. The general upper limit of the riders is 25 years who are newly signed whereas the absolute upper limit is 28 years for all the drivers.
•    Moto 2: Dorna Sports holds the commercial rights for this competition. They introduced the use of 600 cc four-stroke engines to the motorcycles in 2010. Before 2010, only 250 cc double stroke engines were allowed on tracks. In 2010, both double strokes and four-stroke engines were allowed. However, from 2011 only four-stroke engines are allowed on the tracks of Moto 2 racing.
•    Moto GP: GP consists of the highest class of Motor Cycle Racing. This class of racing contests on prototype machines over the years that have varied types of engines and displacements. Initially, the excessive displacement caused by the four-stroke engines was put to severe confrontations when only 500 cc double strokes were allowed. After much hassle, 1000cc four-stroke engines run on Moto GP Tracks.
All the Grand Prix Motorcycles are custom-made and are not meant for mass production. One cannot legally ride these motorcycles on public roads.
