MotoGP Racer Valentino Rossi

Valentino Rossi is the most significant name in the MotoGP circuit, and he is already in the annals of history. However, he has had a rough 2017 season due to an injury and has dropped in the rankings. His replacement on the Movistar Yamaha, Maverick Viñales, is not faring well on the track and the Yamaha team will have to settle to finish lower in the rankings than usual. For this reason, Rossi replaced Viñales for the last race of the season at the Valencian GP, where he tested out the 2018 Movistar Yamaha bike before the final race of the season.

Mid-Season Crush

Rossi had barely made it to the middle of the season when he crashed and injured his right fibula and tibia during training. However, he pushed hard to recover and the MotoGP medical crew cleared him to get back on the bike again. The injury period saw him sit out the last round at the Misano MotoGP. The 38-year old, despite facing younger riders, still has his mojo, and has gotten better with age, just like Italian wine.

The Elusive Tenth Title

Valentino Rossi is only second to Giacomo Agostini for winning Grand Prix races. At 115 wins, Rossi has the time to catch up to Agostini who retired with 122 wins under his belt. He, however, holds the longest time gap between his first and last wins. His first was in 1996 and his last in 2017 at the MotoGP Dutch TT, which is a time period of 20 years and 311 days. He has a record 15 podium finishes, and he has nine titles to his name, but the injury in the 2017 season meant that he has to keep on chasing the title into 2018.

Valentino Rossi owns the Sky Racing Team by VR46, which races in Grand Prix Moto3 and Moto2 categories using the KTM RC 250 GP bikes. He trains every day with the youngsters on his team. He is also an entrepreneur and has various products to his name, such as ‘The Doctor’, his energy drink, the Juventus Football club, and so much more.
